Former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick is expected to be invited to the next rounds of meetings, between NFL players and owners.  That next meeting is scheduled for this coming Tuesday in New York.

Joe Lockhart, the NFL’s executive vice president of communications and public affairs, said in a conference call with reporters he does not know whether Kaepernick plans to attend the meeting.

“I expect he will be invited to this meeting,” Lockhart said. “We look forward to him joining the conversation.”

The meeting will be part of the ongoing dialogue between the league, owners of teams, players and the NFL Players Association about support by the league and owners for players’ community activism endeavors.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett said after his team’s victory over the New York Giants on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J., that Kaepernick’s unemployment should be discussed at the next meeting with the owners.

“I think we should go meet and talk about that issue and talk about the other issues and bring it up,” Bennett said Sunday.

Will Kaepernick show up for this meeting and let his opinion be heard?  The meeting seemed like a step, but its biggest criticism was that Kaepernick was not invited. It’s a fair critique, and now that Kaepernick will have an invitation extended to him, representation among players will seem much more appropriate.
