“Wake Me Up” kicks off with Remy paying homage to the queen bee. Imitating her 1996 flow on “Queen B*tch” featuring the Notorious B.I.G off Hard Core. “If Peter Piper pecked ’em, I bet you Remy ducked ’em / I told you not to touch ’em / It’s not up for discussion.” The song also samples “Queen B*tch”, which originally sampled Roberta Flack’s “Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye”.

Remy premiered the track on Beats 1 Radio and explained why she chose to salute Kim on this track.

I feel like she is the Madonna of the hip-hop world. Her style is iconic and I wanted to pay homage to that. I was like, ‘I want you on this record, but I want you to just be Kim. I want you to be the girl that was squatting down in a leopard thong.

The track was a rumored Nicki Minaj diss, and you may hear a few lines that may fit the situation, but Kim said the Queens emcee is the furthest thing from her mind in a recent interview.

“Wake Me Up” will be featured on Reminisce’s forthcoming album, 7 Winters and 6 Summers. This LP marks her first album in 12 years on her newly inked deal with Columbia Records. Do yourself a favor, and give the song a spin above.
