Former NFL wide receiver Terry Glenn died early Monday after a car crash in Irving, Texas, a spokeswoman for the Dallas County medical examiner’s office confirmed to The Washington Post. Glenn was pronounced dead shortly after midnight at Parkland Memorial Hospital. CBS Dallas-Fort Worth reports that Glenn died following a “single roll-over crash.” He was 43 years old.
Glenn played for the Patriots, Packers and Cowboys during his 12-year career and retired in 2007 with 593 catches and 44 touchdowns. He was the seventh overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft following his standout junior year at Ohio State, where he made 64 catches for 1,411 yards and 17 touchdowns and won the Biletnikoff Award given to the nation’s most outstanding receiver in 1995.
One of Glenn’s best seasons as a pro was his rookie year, when he caught 90 passes for 1,132 yards and six touchdowns to help the Patriots reach the Super Bowl. Five years later, on Oct. 14, 2001, Glenn caught Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s first career touchdown pass.
