If you needed more proof that a black owned basketball league can work, just take a look at the Big3.
The 3on3 professional league coming off a successful inaugural season announced games will now be broadcast live on FS1 and FOX. Games will also be played on Friday evenings this season, last season games were played on Sunday afternoons.
Following the success of FOX Sports’ live broadcast of last season’s BIG3 championship game, we knew we wanted to expand that live access for basketball fans throughout the season,” said FOX Sports President, Production and Executive Producer John Entz. “We’re thrilled to continue to grow our partnership with the BIG3, and we look forward to another season of exciting basketball with some of the most recognized athletes in the game.
Each week, the BIG3 will play four games back-to-back on Friday evenings, three of which will be broadcast live by FOX Sports and streamed concurrently on FOX Sports GO. The league tips off on Friday June 22nd on FS1 from 7:30 to 10:30 PM ET.
Co-founded by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, the BIG3 had an incredibly successful inaugural season, attracting attention from media, fans and celebrities thanks to an impressive roster of basketball superstars and a highly competitive level of 3-on-3 basketball.
In the league’s first season, the ratings drew great numbers considering the games where on tap delays. Attendance during the games, drew high numbers as well.
The league recently announced the return of nearly all first season talent – including 2017 BIG3 Champions Trilogy’s Kenyon Martin, Al Harrington, Rashad McCants, Dion Glover, James White and coach Rick Mahorn, and 2017 BIG3 MVP Rashard Lewis.
