Since 2002, Gisele Bündchen has been known as the highest paid model until now. 22 year old Kendall Jenner has knocked Bündchen out of the top spot on Forbes annual list.
After formally retiring from catwalk appearances last year and posing for adverts for Carolina Herrera fragrances, Arezzo shoes, and Vivara jewelry this caused her overall earnings to drop 43% from the 30.5 million she made in 2016, eventually causing her to be number 2 on the Forbes list for bringing in only 17.5 million this year. “As fashion changes, so does the highest- paid models ranking. This year’s list is dominated by Insta- girls, celebrity scions—and features the first curve model to make the cut,” Forbes reported.
Making her first appearance on Keeping up with the Kardashians at age 12, then signing to Wilhelmina Models at age 14, Kendall’s career grew rapidly. Especially after making the decision to transition into high fashion in 2013.
After signing with Society Management, Jenner made a landmark catwalk debut for Marc Jacobs in designer’s autumn 2014 show. With deals with Estée Lauder, La Perla and Adidas, running her Kendall and Kylie clothing line with her sister, and getting paid for posts distributed to her 85 million followers on instagram, Kendall brought in $22 million in the last year making her the highest paid model in 2017.
Chrissy Teigen, Hadid sisters Gigi and Bella, body activist Ashley Graham and model veteran Karlie Kloss also made the top 10 list. Congratulations to all the ladies!
