With 10 seconds remaining on the game clock, the Vikings receive the football at their own 39 yard line. Minnesota is out of timeouts. They are out of options. And will be out of a season if they do not redefine impossible. They trail the New Orleans Saints, 24-27. Quarterback Case Keenum takes the snap and fires a pass down the sideline to leading Wide Receiver, Stefon Diggs. Diggs jumps, makes the catch and comes down… untouched.
This is where the magic happens.
Diggs keeps his balance by staying in bounds, sprints down the sideline and into the end zone as time expires. Vikings Win!

On both sidelines, everyone is stuck, stunned and stoned. From players, to fans and other Minnesota faithfuls, the post game reactions were priceless. An emotional Stefon Diggs stood with ESPN’s Josena Anderson just minutes after being on the receiving end on the 1st, time expiring, game winning touchdown in NFL postseason history.
“God put me in this position,” and said Diggs. “Damn that s**t feel good.”
The third year receiver led the Vikings this season with 8 touchdowns this season.
Prior to the Miracle
The Vikings came out the gate, swinging. They held Drew Brees and the Saints scoreless in the first half. Up by 17, they withstood the Saints offensive prowess. Brees linked up with Michael Thomas for two out of the three touchdowns passes in the second half. The Saints kicked a 43- yard field goal to take the lead with 25 seconds left on the clock.
On the final play, Saints defensive back, Marcus Williams, misses what would have been a game saving tackle.
The Vikings will head to Philadelphia to play the Eagles in the NFC Title Game. The winner will advance to Super Bowl LLI and will face the winner of the Patriots and Jaguars of the AFC. NFL Championship Sunday begins next week Jan. 21. The NFL playoffs 2018 is shaping to extraordinary.
