When you talk about the mixtape game, a conversation cannot take place without mentioning DJ Drama. All things considered, when Drama gives his opinion or hints at working with an artist–its big news.
TMZ caught up with the infamous DJ at an airport in Los Angeles. In light of the All-Star festivities and a recent musical release from Lakers point guard, Lonzo Ball, they asked what he thought of the Born 2 Ball mixtape.
Headlined by an emotional track dedicated to his father LaVar Ball, Drama deemed the tape worthy of legit attention. With “fair” production, and bars coming from the heart, “If enough ears get onto it, he might be on to something”.
“Tell him to holla at me, we’ll do a Gangsta Grillz,” he added. But Drama wants LaVar to host with him.
Seeing value in a collaboration with the Big Baller Brand, he thinks with the help of Poppa Ball–“it could be the biggest Gangsta Grillz of 2018”. Making big projections, this collaboration would follow Lil Wayne‘s Dedication 6.
Keep in mind, on the intro to D6, Drama said: “Weezy and Dram’ — we are the Mixtape Blueprint. Hahaha! You’re welcome. A Dedication”
Still, Dram’ sees potential in the BBB MC. He even went as far as to say, he could be the next “rap king.”
Should a DJ Drama and Lonzo Ball Gangsta Grillz project come to fruition, this could potentially validate Zo’s talent as an MC?
Although, juggling a rap career and and NBA career could prove to be a challenge, but A.I. and Shaq both did it. However, Shaq achieved platinum success. Both players were also bonafide stars on the hardwood.
Averaging just 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assist per game, Lonzo has yet to consistently prove himself as elite. Hopefully Zo can impress the likes of Magic Johnson soon.
