Off with their heads, literally. Everyone went crazy at Gucci’s show at Milan fashion week. On a stage that consisted of a blue operating room with operating beds, Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele chose to have her models walk with replica versions of their own heads. This concept took Rome-based special and visual effects company Makinarium six months to create.

According to Gucci, the cyborgs are “metaphorically praised as a figure that can overcome the dualism and dichotomy of identity,” so make of that what you will. They also have “eyes on their hands, faux horns, dragon’s eyes and doubling heads.”Other ‘out of the box’ looks included strange dinosaurs and reptiles also carried by the models, knit masks representing a Japanese dance drama called Kabuki. Something like fantasy meets nightmares.
