Snapchat forgets the consumer and updates the platform in a way that would have made businesses and advertisers happy. However, the one thing Snapchat forgot is that without consumers there isn’t any money and businesses will leave when the consumers leave the platform. Snapchat has taken a huge dive as it loses $1.5 billion dollars and Facebook, which is also owner of Instagram, is reeling the benefits of their fall with a $13 billion market increase. It has gone from $516.83 billion to $532.86 billion dollars.

The queen of Snapchat herself, Kylie Jenner, has also gotten tired of the new platform and tweeted ”soooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me….ugh this is so sad.” Her followers retweeted this tweet 350,000 times so it’s clear many people were of the same mind long before Kylie expressed her frustrations.

Despite all of the grumbling and rumblings of the new update, it appears that Snapchat is standing firm to the changes that they have made. “By putting everything from your friends in one place, our goal was to make it easier to connect with the people you care about most. The new Friends page will adapt to you and get smarter over time, reflecting who you’re most likely to be Snapping with at that moment. This same personalization is also true of the new Discover, which will adapt to you the more that you use it.”

Well, time will tell how this update will continue to affect Snapchat’s business.
