Brooklyn’s Masta Ace heads back down under this week for a string of shows across the East Coast of Australia in Sydney and Melbourne. Ace is supported by local heavyweights including the esteemed DJ Shan Frenzie, host of Australia’s longest ever running weekly mixshow – Groove Therapy, and rapper N’fa Jones, who with the group 1200 Techniques won the first major national award in Australia for a hip-hop album and paved the way for hip-hop to flourish locally.
Masta Ace then returns to America for a handful of shows in April, before embarking on yet another European tour with esteemed Juno-nominated Toronto producer Marco Polo – whom he has been collaborating together with for nearly 15 years since Marco Polo moved to New York in the early 2000s.
Masta Ace recently released his excellent first solo album in over a decade, The Falling Season, that featured the likes of Cormega, Torae, AG of D.I.T.C., Your Old Droog and fellow E.M.C. members Wordsworth and Stricklin, as well as his Son Of Yvonne – Remix Album.
From his early days as a member of Marley Marl’s infamous Juice Crew, to his more recent years as part of the hip-hop supergroup E.M.C. and as a solo artist in his own right, Masta Ace has well and truly made his lasting mark on hip-hop. A true legend of the culture, he continues to prove his status as a highly successful artist who can still rock a room after almost three decades rolling across many corners of the world.
