There is something special about the Oscars… and now more than ever, Hip-Hop is making her way into the rank and file.
With the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J, Blige getting nominated, alongside two time Oscar nominate and one time winner, Common, one might feel like at any given moment someone is gonna break out some shell tops and get busy on the side of the stage. But not so… or at least not yet.
The Oscars has changing its complexion and we are excited to see more people not only showing up, but winning big. Especially now that the doors have been busted wide open by talented actors of color. While the big winners seemed to be Kobe Bryant and Jordan Peele, no one can deny that the all the eyeballs were on the drop dead gorgeous people in the audience.
And even cooler was the comradery enjoyed by those actors making way for the next generation of Black tinseltown revelers.
