2018 seems to be a great year for So So Def founder Jermaine Dupri!
After just being inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame, JD will also be celebrating a quarter century of So So Def music, including Kris Kross, Da Brat ,Lil’ Bow Wow and more!
His induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June, will be the 2nd of a Hip Hop artist to ever be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, with Jay-Z being the first after being inducted last June alongside Babyface and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
As for the celebration on SSD’s 25 year anniversary, Sony Music’s Certified Classics is set to release the essential compilation So So Def 25 as a digital album and a 12” vinyl collector’s edition in conjunction with the 25th anniversary this summer. Artists set to appear on the compilation include Jay-Z, Xscape, Aaliyah, Bow Wow, Anthony Hamilton, Jagged Edge, Ghost Town DJ, Da Brat and many more.
This anniversary year has seen Dupri honored with several awards, including the 2018 Trumpet Awards Music Innovation Award, the 2018 Global Spin Awards Breaking Barriers Award as well as the 2018 Legendary Awards Trailblazer Award.
