Every now and then you meet a radiant beam of sunshine, one who illuminates a room and commands attention. A boss woman, goal oriented with a heart of pure gold- in short, black girl magic personified.

Meet Rashan Ali; daytime television host, sports journalist and syndicated radio authority. A triple threat in the realm of entertainment, Ali is a media masterpiece. From her acting roles in Three Can Play That Game (2007), The Gospel and BET’s “Being Mary Jane” to her Cool Soror podcast, the Florida A&M University graduate is leading by example.

Ali, who’s celebrated a birthday this past weekend, resume transcends beyond Hollywood bounds. Glass ceilings who? Proud wife and mother of two, Ali is a devoted humanitarian with her non-profit Sporty Girls, Inc., created to encourage young minority women to participate in non-traditional sports, including soccer, golf and swimming.

Now, the Georgia Peach tackles lifestyle, entertainment news and all things trendy on “Sister Circle,” produced by TEGNA, a live, one-hour talk show alongside three divas; songbird Syleena Johnson, author and entrepreneur Quad Webb-Lunceford and comedienne Kiana Dancie, which airs daily on TV One, but also airs on select stations around the US (check local listings!)

We caught up with the media maven as she talked her background, challenges she’s overcome in entertainment, diversity and more.
