For the ones that’ve been rocking with us for the better part of three decades, we thank you for allowing The Source to ring in its 30th Anniversary this year as your go-to authority for Hip-Hop culture and continuing to regard us as the Bible of Hip-Hop. In a way to show our unending gratitude, our team linked up with the good people over at Extra Butter NY for a night to celebrate the kicks, the culture and the city that brings us all together.

A precursor to our SOURCE360 Festival & Conference going down this September — look out for the rundown on that soon! — the first in our monthly The Kickback Series was created as a way for industry heads, sneaker fiends, and the flyest residents of the Big Apple to come together for a night to network and celebrate the current state of our culture. Cognac champs Courvoisier provided the drink menu for the night, which included a specially-named drink that fans were encouraged to “guess the name” to for a chance to win tickets to our SOURCE360 concert at the Barclays Center.

To compliment the movie theater setting of Extra Butter’s flagship location on 125 Orchard Street in the Lower East Side, we pulled out some of greatest magazine covers for invited guests to catch the ill photo op in front of. From Lauryn Hill’s unforgettable Sept. 1998 cover (Issue #108) to the Scarface cover that unfortunately had to take the backseat to Biggie due to his then-sudden death in 1997 (Issue #92), the decades-spanning history of The Source extended from velvet wall-to-wall.

Peep the rest of the pics from the night below, and the full recap video above. Shoutout to DJ Hu Dat for providing the sounds and PRIVILEGE New York for hooking up some of our guests with the fire swag bags. Until next month!
