Streaming really is taking over the world. According to ‘The Economist’, Netflix is estimating that they will spend between $12-13 billion in 2018, which is more than any film or television studio. The company has been putting out new content every month and always have new shows or movies in production.
When the streaming service launched in 1997, their business model was solely based on DVD sales and mail rentals. Since then the company has grown to be one of the biggest players in the streaming industry. Subscribers are able to watch their favorite shows from other networks or take a chance upon an original series.
This year, Netflix will offer customers 82 feature films and be producing or acquiring 700 new or original shows. Warner Brothers, on the other hand, will only be sending 23 films to theaters this year. Netflix has a loyal base of subscribers and it doesn’t look like they will be slowing down their production anytime soon.
