Anna Wintour, renowned Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine, is showing us another side of her fashion empire by adding ‘sneaker curator’ to her resume by way of Nike and its longstanding partnership with Jordan Brand.
The “Air Jordan Edited by Vogue” collaboration offers a new spin on the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 3 silhouettes, with Wintour as the muse for the two new pairs per style. This is the first time that the brandâs iconic silhouettes have even been edited, but it makes sense that the most important pen in fashion journalism would be the first to do it.
In a video teaser that announced the collab (seen above), Anna Wintour showcases a secret talent and highlights a fiery new pair of the Air Jordan 1 in such a cool way.
The Js in question ârenamed the AJ1 “High Zip AWOK”âfeatures the following stylish details: a bold, metallic zipper that reveals a vibrant, Crimson Red tongue and is available in University Red or an off-white color called Sail. The Air Jordan 3 sneaker gets some stylish treatment in the form of sparkly tweed, a homage to her favorite Chanel suits, and come in the colors black and red. Both sneakers feature Wintourâs âAWOKâ signature on the soles and a red tag that reads âEdited by Vogue.â
In a press release, more information behind the signature is revealed. Featured on all four pairs, the âAWOKâ signature is an all-too-familiar staple among the fashion iconâs colleagues. âWhen Anna Wintour gives her approval for editorial or creative, she simply writes âAWOK,â which stands for âAnna Wintour Okay.â The Vogue Editor-in-Chief teamed up with Jordan Brand to put this approval stamp on two iconic silhouettes for the ultimate co-sign.â
The AJ1 “High Zip AWOK” will be available as a limited release next week Saturday (July 21) at select retailers, including KITH and Nordstrom, followed by a wider release on the SNKRS app beginning July 23. The AJ3 âAWOKâ will drop on Friday, September 7.
Donât miss out on this drop that is sure to be a hit amongst fashion lovers and kick enthusiasts alike.
