Iran’s Foreign Minister shot back at Donald Trump’s Twitter rant on Monday showing no concern for Trump’s online threats. “COLOR US INIMPRESSED,” Javad Zarif tweeted in all-caps mocking Trump’s all-caps tweets from a day prior. “The world heard even harsher bluster a few months ago. And Iranians have heard them —albeit more civilized ones—for 40 yrs. We’ve been around for millennia & seen fall of empires, incl our own, which lasted more than the life of some countries. BE CAUTIOUS,” the Foreign Minister said on the social media site.

After Iranian President warned the United States not to “play with the lion’s tail” regarding Trump’s threats on oil exports, Trump fired off in a Sunday tweet saying, “NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE.”

Trump’s online threats seem to mirror the approach he took with North Korea in regard to Nuclear threats. In May, Trump kept his promise and withdrew from the Obama-era Iran Nuclear Deal that would have kept the Middle East Nation from creating nuclear weapons for ten years, a move that Trump’s former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson did not agree with.

If Trump is taking the same approach as he did with North Korea, the words could prove meaningless. In the case of North Korea, after months of back and forth threats from Kim Jong Un and Trump, the two leaders met for a summit to attempt to disarm the Korean nation of nuclear weapons which U.S. intelligence says has not yet happened despite Trump saying North Korea was no longer a threat.
