Held at the Banc of California Stadium, Insecure Fest provided fans with an experience like no other which included life-sized games, a preview of the first episode of Season 3, and special guest performances from 2 Chainz, Saweetie, Rico Nasty, Jorja Smith, and Amine.

As Season 3 nears there’s been much discussion about Lawrence, Issa Rae’s longtime ex-boyfriend, not returning to the show or at least not this season. At the end of Season 2, Lawrence found out about Issa’s relationship with Y’lan Noel who plays Daniel. Issa explained that she wanted the show to remain as true to life as possible and cutting Lawrence out of the picture would be as realistic as it gets. She expressed: “You never see the exes again. And it’s okay! You gotta explore life without Lawrence.”

Executive Producer, Prentice Penny explained:

“At the end of the day, we’re always trying to tell stories that are true and authentic. We were in the writers room and we were initially talking about, Okay, well what is he doing?… Well, he’s not in her life right now. It was hard to make stories around that.We just said, well, if he’s not around, he’s not around. Let’s just deal with the reality of what her life is now. Let’s be true to that, when you breakup and you have closure.”
