Actor/comedian Jamie Foxx made sure he was present for a private screening of the first episode of Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story alongside the slain 17-year-old’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton.

The six-part series, which is executive produced by Jay-Z and Michael Gasparro, was introduced with the first episode being shown and followed with an emotional Q&A with the audience both about the project and how young, Black boys and girls can prepare themselves for a society where racial injustice is so candid.

Foxx, who attended the event without any press, took a photo with Trayvon’s parents alongside a poster for the upcoming documentary. The actor has been a longtime supporter of Trayvon and his family, and has vowed to keep the memory of the boy alive.

Trayvon Martin was shot and killed six years ago in Sanford Florida by Neighborhood Watch guard George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of the killing. Martin was only 17 years old and unarmed.

Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story premieres on Paramount Network July 30.
