“DUI suspect is the picture of entitlement,” The New York Post headline reads of a South Carolina woman who used her race to avoid a DUI charge. Lauren Cutshaw appeared in court after she was arrested on Saturday for driving under the influence of alcohol. Cutshaw was pulled over initially for speeding and running a stop sign which led to the discovery that she was drunk and in possession of drugs.

The 33-year-old told officers that she was out celebrating her birthday and only had two glasses of wine. At the time of arrest, Cutshaw’s blood alcohol content was at .18 and the drunk driver also was in possession of marijuana which she was also charged for.

According to the police report, Cutshaw claims she shouldn’t be arrested because she is a “very clean, thoroughbred, white girl.” When police asked what that meant she responded by saying, “You’re a cop, you know what that means.”

Police credited the suspect’s BAC for the reason she was so blatant in her perceived race-based entitlement. Regardless of her opinion, she was still booked on DUI charges and as of Tuesday is no longer incarcerated.

According to the New York Post, Cutshaw’s boyfriend is a police officer, a fact she brought up as one of her many reasons why she should not be arrested.
