Now, this is true love and Hip-Hop. Jean Grae is officially off the market. This past weekend, the autocratically inclined lyricist got married to her longtime boyfriend rapper/producer Quelle Chris.

According to Hip-Hop Wired, the marriage ceremony took place on Sunday (Aug. 5) at the W Loft in Brooklyn. The occasion appeared to be intimate as the duo’s closest buddies in the likes of Donwill and Von Pea of Tanya Morgan, comedian Hannibal Burress, and author John Hodgman were present. Hodgman shared a photo of the newlyweds on Instagram embracing their bond amid the caption, “…these lovelies are both profoundly in FOCUS.” A newly-wedded wife, Grae replied to the post showing gratitude towards her friend for making her special day a “magical moment.”

“You made such a magical moment, John,” she wrote. “Thank you so much. Seriously. That was incredible. I’m crying while typing this. So magical.”

The two were engaged in December 2017, three months before the release of their first collaborative full-length album Everything’s Fine (March 2018). The album was released under Mello Music Group to whom Quelle signed to in 2011.

Quelle is an overall Hip-Hop purist. His production has gained the likes of J Dilla and Proof and veteran Pharoahe Monch has dropped bars atop his craft. The New York native has also done collabs with class act lyricists like Roc Marciano. Aggressively topping his cultural enthusiasm, Jean Grae is known to be one of the most proficient emcees to come out of New York. Her 2002 debut LP, Attack of the Attacking Things served as a form of justice for the sound of the unapologetic idiosyncratic femcee. She went on to record tracks with fellow renowned lyrical practitioners such as Masta Ace, Talib Kweli, The Roots, and many more.

Congratulations to the newlyweds Jean Grae and Quelle Chris!
