There’s a reason why we still claim Barack Obama as our President and Michelle Obama as our first lady. Despite no longer being in office, the pair continues to fight for justice whether it’s through speeches or entertainment. The couple inked a deal with Netflix in May and now they have summoned veteran filmmaker, Priya Swaminathan. Wonder what that’s about.
Although Swaminathan’s role has yet to be determined, she is known for her projects regarding social justice such as a documentary on teenagers in prostitution released back in 2007 titled Very Young Girls.
Not only has she had experience in filmmaking but she is also an industry advisor for the Sundance Institute’s FilmTwo Initiative as well as a member of the Time’s Up community. She also has director on her resume when she was working with Annapurna Pictures, which produced HER, Spring Breakers, Detroit and Sorry To Bother You.
