Lebron James keeps proving to us that his move to Los Angeles may have actually had more to do with his work in television and movie production than it had to do with basketball itself. It was just announced that James’ and his media company Springhill Entertainment will be joining forces with Philadelphia 76ers star player, Ben Simmons, to produce a new comedy series about Simmons’ life titled Brotherly Love, to be aired on the NBC network.
According to Deadline:
“Written by Kang’s brother, Patrick Kang, and Michael Levin, Brotherly Love is inspired by the life of Ben Simmons and centers on a unique sibling relationship within a multi-ethnic family. Together, they pursue their dreams while navigating life in the spotlight in Philadelphia, a passionate city where sports is in your blood, and your blood is always boiling.”
The new show is, of course, executive produced by Lebron James and his partner Maverick Carter, as well as former co-executive producer Kourtney Kang from Fresh Off the Boat. Attempting to be very hands-on, Ben Simmons and his brother, Sean Tribe, will be consulting producers. Stay tuned for more details on a premiere date.
