Coogler will be joined by Terence Nance, creator of Random Acts of Flyness, in the Director’s chair. The film is slated to be produced during NBA offseason of 2019 and will star King James.

LeBron’s love for Coogler is rooted in his efforts with Black Panther and how it provided a black superhero to children, who are like him growing up in areas of Akron.

“I loved his vision” James spoke of Coogler to The Hollywood Reporter. “So for Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing.”

The film already has its first image produced, showcasing King James locker next to Bugs Bunny who will be his point guard.

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” says James, “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”
