Recently, LaTavia Roberson and Beyoncé reconciled in the most adorable way. But did you know that these two ladies started Destiny’s Child back in 1990.
When we first fell in love with Destiny’s Child, they were four sweet girls from Houston taking the world by storm in the late 90s. Few could deny that Beyoncé, Kelly, LeToya and Latavia snatched the spot that En Vogue left and were on track to being one of the best girl groups of all time. That manifestation of the group was magical.
But that’s when the world met them… and this probably colors the history of DC as we know it.
Here is what you know:
You know the epic rise. You know the epic alleged “ousting” of the original members. You know the meteoric phoenix of DC3. You also know the solo careers. You know BEYONCÉ and all that she is.
Missing from this quick overview is a real nod to Latavia Roberson. Roberson met Bey at an audition in 1990. As the story goes, the girls became quick friends based on their love to sing and rap, and this friendship motivated Matthew Knowles to develop the group as we know it.
And so… when the group originally disbanded fans who were following the story from the jump were heartbroken to see how nasty everything went. Accusations flew against the Knowles family and even lawsuits were made. No real fans wanted to see this.
Over the years, we have seen it get better. We’ve seen LeToya and Bey and Kelly reconnect. We’ve even heard murmurings of reconciliation but this IG post is prove that at the very least, the two can laugh. Hurray. Check it out.
