Mafioso rap pioneer Kool G Rap is reportedly on the verge of pursuing a massive lawsuit against American retail chain Finish Line after being wrongfully accused of stealing a pair of big-ticket sneakers. According to G Rap, the only reason why he was targeted for the offense is because he is a Black man, an act best known as “shopping while Black”.

According to TMZ, back in June, the “Ill Street Blues” emcee was ordered to attend court after he was accused of shoplifting a pair of Nike LeBron 15’s (valued $185) form a Pennsylvania Finish Line by a store employee. The employee described the shoplifter as being an African-American male in his 40s.

The Hip-Hop legend was reportedly shopping at the same mall as the noted Finish Line location that day fitting the employee’s alleged description who went on to take down his car’s registration number and wasted no time to contact the police. G Rap was left with a petty theft misdemeanor.

According to his lawyers Donte Mills and Lennon Edwards of Mills & Edwards LLP, the cops failed to review the respective Finish Line location’s surveillance footage prior to slamming the rap icon with the charge. G Rap’s lawyers contend if the police accomplished the step of reviewing the footage, they would have discovered that the rapper never stepped foot inside of the store. It appears blatant to G Rap’s counsel, that the cops in question were simply on a hunt for the forever in demand Black man in his 40s.

The cops managed to conclude that the Finish Line employee never caught G Rap in the act, or even in the parking lot, which was an unquestionable authorization to drop the case. As of today, Kool G Rap and his legal team are in the process of prepping and executing a hefty lawsuit against Finish Line.
