Jay Rock has been killing it on his “The Big Redemption” tour, which we were blessed to hit up when it kicked off in NYC back in September, and now he’s giving us the treat we’ve all been waiting for: the official music video for the standout cut off Redemption, featuring none other than Kendrick Lamar.
You really get a sense of Jay Rock and K. Dot’s nostalgia for Cali by going on a ride with them to the past, and also through their neighborhood in a red Dodge Charger. The car itself seems to hold real significance to both TDE rappers’ past before they got famous.
Directed by Jack Begert, this is a no-frills ride through the ‘hood, with some artistic cuts back and forth between the present and clips via a VHS recording effect to emulate the past. There is some fire, and we’re not just talking about the verses! Thankfully, flames are always therapeutic to watch.
