Excited to see her comeback following the birth of her son Eissa, my two friends and I took a road trip to to see the reigning dance queen perform her classics at Hard Rock Live in the Etess Arena.  Located inside the newly-opened Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City we checked into our opulent room— complete with a picturesque view of the Atlantic and prepared ourselves for an adventure.

With a full day to explore the bigger-than-life hotel, we ventured off to explore the amenities and view some of the unique memorabilia throughout the hotel. Michael Jackson’s infamous sequined glove, a check signed by Tupac Shakur, Lauryn Hill’s lyric sheet and an assortment of rare pieces belonging to some of our favorite celebrities.

The Hard Rock’s House Band at The Lobby Bar affectionately known as The Neptunes blew our minds away running through our favorite rock n’ roll jams. One of the highlights of the trip included the amazing 5-star dining we experienced at Council Oak Fish. Perfection all around—the service, ambiance and most importantly the food made this easily one of our best dining experiences—-ever! The calamari, king crab, salmon and shellfish pots served up by Chef Quincy Logan extraordinaire would make any certified foodie return for another taste of decadence.

The next morning we spent time tanning on the Hard Rock Beach before taking it inside to the swanky indoor pool for a quick retreat from the sun. Grateful for the unlimited options at the lunch buffet, we tried a little of everything before going up and preparing for the show. Ready for Queen Janet to arrive we decided to try our luck at the enormous casino in the lobby before heading into the show.

Stepping on the stage with her infamous silhouette on the screen, Janet created a political atmosphere from the top of the show featuring controversial phrases in black and white across the screen splattered with red simulating blood.  ‘Black vs.White’, ‘Domestic Terrorism’, ‘We Want Justice’ crossed the screen along with other shocking images to a stunned crowd. Drumming up a field emotions throughout the show including an onstage fight about domestic violence, Janet made use of her platform.  The 50-plus diva also sang and danced through her top hits reminding us of why she is one the biggest pop stars to date. Ending her show with a dedication to her father it was quite evident that Miss Jackson has been through a lot.
