Yesterday’s (Nov. 19) matchup between the Rams and the Chiefs ended historically, and although Los Los Angeles (10-1) came out on top 54-51 over Kansas City (9-2), both teams put on a record-breaking scoring show.

Last night’s game shattered many Monday night football records. The 105 total points between the two teams became the highest scoring game in the 49-season history of Monday Night Football. Also, the high volume scoring game became the third-most in NFL history, behind the Washington Redskins’ 72-41 win (113 points) over the New York Giants in 1966 and the Cincinnati Bengals’ 58-48 win (106 points) over the Cleveland Browns in 2004.

The game was also the first time two teams reached 50 points in the same game.

The 54 point outing from the Rams is now the third-highest point total in MNF history. They fall behind the Philadelphia Eagles, who beat the Washington Redskins, 59-28, in 2010, and 1988, the Indianapolis Colts beat the Denver Broncos, 55-23.

Meanwhile, the 51 points put up by the Chiefs became the highest scoring loss in NFL history beating out the Giants, who lost to the Redskins in that infamous 72-41 game. The previous teams to score 50 points in an NFL game has a record of 216-0.

Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs second-year quarterback had the best-worst game ever. He finished completing 33 of his 46 passes for a career-high 478 yards, six touchdowns. Mahomes now has 6 games with 4+ pass TD this season, tied for 2nd-most in a season since 1950.

Mahomes is now up to 37 on the season, the 3rd-most through a team’s first 11 games in NFL history.

But let’s not forget Mahomes’ five turnovers. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Chiefs quarterback is also the first player since 1933 to record six passing touchdowns and five turnovers in the game, which included three interceptions and two fumbles.

This game came nothing short of historically epic. Here are some Twitter reactions to Monday night’s NFL thriller.
