Earlier this week Billboard announced that they will honor SZA at the 13th annual Women in Music event in New York on December 6.

The “Love Glore” singer will be honored with the rule breaker, which definitely fits SZA’s style.  The award recognizes a female artist who use their music and platform to defy traditional industry expectations and advance a powerful message for young people.

Early this year SZA sparked  after she flirted with the idea of early retirement from music and said that her next album would be her last,

My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about. I feel like I’m in a cage,” she told Flaunt. She continued, “I’m making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that… because it’s going to be my last album” — but apparently she delivered the news with a smile, which suggested she may or may not be serious about quitting.

SZA has received multiple Grammy nominations, multi-platinum hits from her CTRL album which dropped in 2017.

Others to be honored at The Billboard’s Women in Music event include Kacy Musgraves and Hayley.
