Thanks to the variety of post-Thanksgiving discounts, holiday shopping has become a time of ultimately saving with the deals happening on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. So in a giving effort, many well-known stars celebrated a new holiday that’s not so well-known. It’s called Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday, which is only in its seventh year of existence, is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving that focuses on charitable donations. Many celebrities took it to Twitter to share their end-of-year giving using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
Michelle Obama and Global Girls Alliance
For #GivingTuesday, the Global @GirlsAlliance asked young women what they’re thankful for this holiday season—and how they plan to pay it forward to girls around the world.
I hope you’ll follow their lead. Support projects for girls at https://t.co/Z5q8KOBrmF pic.twitter.com/D5teV3x2L2

Queen Latifah and #EmpireStarGivesBack
I wouldn’t be where I am today without a great arts education. If you’d like to support the arts this #GivingTuesday, it’s as easy as a RT. Or thank your favorite teacher using #EmpireStarGivesBack. FOX will donate $2 for every post, up to $50k, to support arts education programs pic.twitter.com/7N5jhsr2dp
