On his Wednesday podcast, Joe Budden and his crew laid out what is known so far about the case as well as speculates about 6ix9ine’s whereabouts and possible next moves.

What is known is that the rapper and several of his associates were arrested on racketeering and firearms charges. The arrests were made under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO. The rapper previously professed his affiliation with New York’s 9 Trey Bloods gang. The rapper was charged with racketeering, carrying a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy murder. If convicted, he faces 32 years to life in prison for the racketeering charges alone. He is facing life in prison should he be found guilty on all charges. So far, he has pled not guilty to racketeering.

On his podcast, Budden notes that shortly before Thanksgiving, the rapper was transferred from Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), where he was located in a “neutral zone” (away from known gang members) to a new prison for “security reasons.” The rapper’s lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, refused to comment on whether the artist is going to try to cooperate with authorities in exchange for a lighter sentence. Instead, Laxarro told TMZ that the rapper was getting threats from gang members at MDC and that the transfer was for “security reasons.”

On his podcast, Budden and his co-hosts debate whether or not the transfer was for his own security or whether or not it was because he’s going to cooperate and enter a witness protection program. Budden notes that since the U.S. Marshalls were the ones that conducted the transfer, it sounds like witness protection.

Budden notes that MDC is widely known as “one of the safest places on earth. If they caught Bin Laden, they would have put him in there.”

In the end, Budden and his co-hosts admit that despite their theories, they have no clear answer and will have to wait like the rest of us.

While the world is waiting for the legal outcome, they won’t have to wait as long as expected for the rapper’s new album. Despite the rapper’s legal troubles (or perhaps due to a leak), the rapper’s friend and DJ, DJ Akademiks announced that 6ix9ine’s latest album, DUMMY BOY, would be released this week, despite claims that it would be delayed several months.

If the rapper does end up testifying for the state against his former associates, Rory, one of Budden’s co-hosts, asks  a very logical question: “Where do you hide the rainbow hair, tatted face kid?”
