Do not bring the debate of who the best basketball player of all time to the icon Allen Iverson. He will not hesitate to tell you that it is Michael Jordan and that no one can come close.
In a new piece on the Players’ Tribune, The Answer grabbed a pen and told plenty of stories about his career. Opting to leave out Tyronn Lue tales or the over-discussed “Practice” rant, A.I. talked about giving his friends a Bentley, his passion for drawing and how LeBron James just does not compare to Michael Jordan. Iverson made sure that it was clear he loves LeBron James and respects his game but Mike is that guy and forever will be.
“Mike is always going to be the GOAT. And please don’t even insult me with any of this ‘stats, AI!’ business, like you have a chance of changing my mind,” Iverson wrote.
Iverson would also refer to Air Jordan as Black Jesus.
“We’re talking about Mike, O.K.??
“We’re talking about Black Jesus himself.”
Also in the piece, Allen Iverson lists his All-Time Starting Line-Up if he had to leave himself out, which he lined up Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal next to MJ and LBJ. Talking Hip-Hop, Iverson also detailed who he had in his top five: JAY-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Andre 3000, Tupac and Redman.
