Sony’s God of War took home the biggest prize of all at 2018’s The Game Awards beating out Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Spider-Man, Monster Hunter World, and Celeste for the overall “Game of the Year.” God of War also won “Best Game Direction” and “Best Action Adventure,” so it had a pretty good night.

While Red Dead Redemption 2 did not win “Game of the Year,” it didn’t go home empty-handed. It won “Best Narrative,” “Best Music/Score,” “Best Audio Design,” and “Best Performance” for Roger Clark as Arthur Morgan.
Epic’s Fortnite was also a big winner, taking home the “Best Ongoing Game” and “Best Multiplayer” awards, while Into The Breach won “Best Strategy Game.”
The Game Awards, organized and hosted by Geoff Keighley, is now in its fifth year and has become a key date on the gaming calendar. As well as handing out awards for the best achievements in the industry across the year, the show has become a hotbed for new game announcements and trailers. This year saw games such as Dragon Age 4, Far Cry: New Age and The Outer Worlds all revealed for the first time.
