One of the most popular shows on HBO is the original crime drama True Detective. Each season of the series utilizes new cast ensembles and following numerous sets of characters and settings. The third season is scheduled to premiere on January 13, 2019, starring Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali.

Ali, who was just nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Green Book will star as detective Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas. The story-line will take place “across three decades,” with Ali playing Hays as the detective on the case, the detective ten years later re-examining the case, and a retired cop, reflecting on the still-unsolved disappearance It’s being reported that Stephen Dorff (Somewhere, Immortals) is set to play Arkansas State Investigator Roland West. Carmen Ejogo (Selma, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) will play school teacher Amelia Reardon, who is connected to two missing children.

The series created by Nic Pizzolatto, has featured in the first season Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittles. The second season included Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly, and Vince Vaughn.
