Despite a passionate plea from Ellen DeGeneres on her show, Kevin Hart has decided to not host the Academy Awards. According to Deadline, Hart believes there is not enough time to prepare for the show and the controversy surrounding his resurfaced tweets would still take away from the show.
Late last week, Hart was a guest on The Ellen Degeneres Show where the host stated she spoke with the Acamdey of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who still wished to have Hart take on the role of host. DeGeneres spoke to Hart about the social media uproar and attempted to convince him to not let “haters” take an accomplishment away from him. “Leaving here, I promise you I’m evaluating this conversation,” Hart told Ellen.
Hart’s decision to not host the Oscars leaves the Academy with a month to find a replacement. The show will happen on February 24.
