Before Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the National Anthem to peacefully protest against police brutality, performing for the Super Bowl’s halftime performance was an accomplishment for artists.
Many performers including JAY-Z, Cardi B, and Pink turned down the opportunity to perform for this year’s show in their support for Kap or their fear of public criticism.
At the end of the day, the show went on and Maroon 5 took the stage alongside Travis Scott and Big Boi. CeeLo made a point to congratulate the Atlanta native for his performance and also shaded these “so-called” NFL protestors.
“Yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT SHIT! Fuck these so called protesters you just got 100m worth of press. I’ll kill for you,” CeeLo wrote on Twitter.
