Music fans worldwide will celebrate the would-be 74th birthday of reggae pioneer Bob Marley tomorrow (February 6), which is now referred to as Bob Marley Day in the city of Toronto. Canada-bred imprint Roots found a special way to commemorate the day by re-releasing its Calgary Varsity Jacket that originally dropped in collaboration with fellow Canadian native Drake.

This official Roots x OVO collab was first released last year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1988 Calgary Olympics, which in itself was constructed after a vintage Roots Award Jacket made for the Jamaican Bobsled Team that inspired the classic 1993 film Cool Runnings. The color theme takes cues from the Jamaican flag, featuring a black base and finished off with green and yellow accents. Of course, the good ol’ flag of Canada is honored through patches on the sleeves, and while Marley-themed add-ons aren’t included on this iteration, the fact that his name and legacy are considered a cornerstone in Jamaican culture makes it clear that we’ll always associate those colors with his memory.

The Roots x OVO Calgary Varsity Jacket drops again tomorrow (February 6) at Roots’ primary Canadian locations at Chinook Centre in Calgary and over in Vancouver at Roots Robson (1001 Robson Street). Get an up-close look below:
