Drake’s third and breakout mixtape, So Far Gone turned ten years old today and to celebrate this work of art, it’s coming to streaming platforms this week.
Drizzy made the announcement on Instagram. In the lengthy announcement, he thanked people who were included in the production of this project including his arch nemesis, Kanye West.
In the thank you note, he reflects on Boi-1da’s early producer career, he thanked Trey Songz for believing in him and giving him a co-sign, and of course, he thanked Lil Wayne for giving him an opportunity of a lifetime, among a dozen other contributors.
But most notably, Drake thanked Ye who is undoubtedly a huge influence in the Toronto crooner’s career. “[Kanye West] a decade ago I rapped over your beat cause you just made the best s–t and even though you stay wildin on twitter these days I will never forget what you contributed to the game and my career.”
The song in question is Yeezy’s “Say You Will” which appeared on his 2008 808s and Heartbreaks album. He sampled the beat for his song “Say What’s Real” that appears on his mixtape.
