While Nowitzki was checking out in the final seconds of the Mavs lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, opposing coach Doc Rivers took the microphone courtside and requested the crowd to shower the NBA Champion with an ovation as he left the legendary L.A. court for the last time.

“One of the greatest of all-time, Dirk Nowitzki,” Doc proclaimed to the crowd with just over nine seconds left in the game.

“That was just, we had a lead and I had a timeout,” Rivers said in the post-game interview. “Honestly, I didn’t plan it. I just felt like he deserved that.”

Dirk was confused to the call of a timeout when he was up and the game was in hand, but would go on to say it was “really humbling” and an “emotional moment.”
