The New York Knicks have been a running joke for much of the last two decades. All that can change in one summer, if everything lines up according to plan. Las Vegas believes in the Knicks’ plan. Las Vegas’ Westgate SuperBook has opened the New York Knicks, who had the worst record in the NBA this season, at 16-1 to win the 2019-20 NBA championship. That’s the sixth-best odds of any team in the league.

The Knicks, who had a league-worst 17-65 record last year, are considered the favorites to land 10-time All-Star forward Kevin Durant in free agency, per Westgate VP of risk management Jeff Sherman. That, in turn, has created optimism for New York’s title chances.
The team would be at 300-1 if it doesn’t add Durant or another superstar, per Sherman.
Love him or hate him, he’s one of the top five players in the world, and although he’s had a ton of success with the Golden State Warriors, it has long been thought that Durant will test the free agency waters this offseason.
There are a lot of reasons to join the New York Knicks in free agency. There’s the bunch load of money, the prestige that comes with playing in the Madison Square Garden, and the perks that come from living in New York.
However, it looks like Durant could have an even bigger reason to join the Knicks in the summer, as he could have his very own show on the MSG Network, as reported by Bleacher Report.
For the Knicks to be this favorable next season, they will need more help than just Durant.
The Knicks have plenty of under-25 talent led by Dennis Smith Jr., Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, and Allonzo Trier. That young nucleus could flourish behind a veteran presence like Durant and the possible addition of Kyrie Irving.
