2019 has been a great year for the sport of boxing. With some well high profile bout happening this summer, you can now add another one to the list. Manny Pacquiao will challenge undefeated reigning WBA (Super) Welterweight World Champion Keith Thurman in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 20th and will be aired on FOX PPV.

Pacquiao-Thurman for July 20 has been in the works for a while, and now it looks like it’s a done deal.

Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KO) holds the WBA’s secondary “world” title at 147 pounds, and more important is still one of the most famous and recognizable active boxers in the world, maybe still the most famous and recognizable across the globe.

July 20 will mark Pacquiao’s first appearance since a unanimous-decision win over Adrien Broner in January to retain the WBA welterweight title. Pac-Man is just 7-4 in his last 11 fights dating back to 2012.

Thurman (29-0, 22 KO) has the WBA “super world” title at 147, so he’s the recognized champion of their sanctioning body by most. Thurman, who was stripped of his WBC title during his absence, retained his WBA belt and will look for his sixth title defense.

Thurman owns wins over the likes of Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Robert Guerrero.

This fight could be a pick em, if Thurman still looks sluggish, after a two-year absence and a not so stellar performance in January.
