With continued efforts to bring you all a little more flavor outside of our regular Hip-Hop coverage, take a look at Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy’s new music video for his latest African Giant single “Another Story.”
Released as an ode to Nigerian Independence Day on Tuesday (October 1), the powerful visuals display a hard look at what he and the people of Nigeria have endured under British rule. The video literally opens up with a spoken word history lesson, and immediately follows with dead bodies, dirt-ridden children suffering the blunt of the madness and fiery street riots that call for change in a severely abused society. Director Clarence Abiodun Peters was able to perfectly capture the mood that was needed to get the point across, and a guest verse from Ghanaian rapper M.anifest adds the final touch to assist the body-rocking track overall. While it’s quite a tough vision to take in, we 100% commend Burna Boy for being able to incorporate real-life issues into his art while also dropping a hit at the same time.
