Amari Allen says during recess, the three all-white students held her down, cut her dreadlocks off saying that her hair was nappy and ugly.

Officials at Immanuel Christian School, where the vice president’s wife, Karen Pence, teaches art part-time told ABC News, that they’re working with police “to conduct a thorough investigation.”

Amari said the incident happened when teachers and administrators weren’t around. She says they also covered her mouth to muffle her cries for help.

Amari said that she didn’t tell anyone what happened at first but it just kept on weighing on her spirit and she recognizes this assault as bullying,

“When I held it in, I felt like a weight was being added to my shoulders each day that I held it in”Something could have happened that made them do this. I know that’s like the source of most bullying.

Amari’s grandmother, Cynthia Allen says, she never thought the incident would happen at the school,

“I never thought about bullying being a part of this curriculum,”

The family is calling for the three students to be expelled but they feel like they aren’t being taken seriously. The family filed an incident report with the Fairfax County Police Department.
