“Busy” is what comes to mind when you learn about the headway Actor Patrick Byas has been making; but to Patrick, he thinks of it as, “having fun and growing”. The Bronx native has completed one movie titled, The Deal, is working on another titled, The Will, and made a splash in the season finale of new Hulu series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga. Even with a busy schedule like Patrick’s, he still found a few minutes to break down what’s next and what others may not know.
The names Tesla and Elon Musk are well-known in the tech world; what buzzing connection do you have with them?
“Do I have some connection with the Musk Family?” Patrick responded with a giggle. “I recently worked on a project with Tosca Musk. Tosca has a production company called, Passionflix. It was pretty cool for me to play a supporting character in one of her new films titled, The Will, which comes out next year on Valentine’s Day. It’s directed by Louise Alston. I play a pretty good role in it; the good guy this time. I finished playing the bad guy in another movie and so I’m excited to be playing the good guy in this role. So, everyone who’s reading this, make sure you clear your calendars for February 14th, 2020. Make sure you have your passionflix already on deck and lock in to catch me and a dope cast and crew on Tosca Musk’s film, The Will. Shout out to Tosca Musk for such a dope opportunity!”
Tells us about Simeon and where this character is from. Who is he? What’s his motive? Is he a real bad cat or is he just desperate?
“My character’s name is Simeon; I play a lead character in new movie titled, The Deal. This guy Simeon is also joined by his girlfriend and the two of them decided to rob a guy, but ironically have to travel with the same guy from Oklahoma to Los Angeles. Now with Simeon, he has a wide range of emotions and you don’t know what direction he’s coming from, at times. All you know is he’s just going to be flipping out at times and calm during other times, and this role challenged me, so I really concentrated in order to step my acting up. I’m definitely excited for everyone to have the chance to see The Deal, which will be out next year in 2020.”
The Wu and the resurgence of the Wu-Tang Clan has launched Hulu streaming service ahead of others. How has it been capturing a role on this new show and working on such a historical project?
“Being a part of the Wu-Tang series on Hulu was really cool and the response from everyone was unexpected. There’s been a lot of people who have been sharing the scene I was part of, and I’ve made a lot of new friends via social media. It’s also funny now because when I’m out, I meet people and they recognize me, and they repeat my line from the show; and I think that’s pretty cool that people do that! Overall, I’m just blown away by the whole experience. I get a lot of questions from people asking if there’s going to be another season and if they’re bringing my character back.
