Continuing Red Bull Music Festival Chicago, a special two-part live musical performance, titled Black Monastic, curated by Theaster Gates’ Rebuild Foundation and held at the stunning Garfield Park Conservatory to a sold-out crowd. 

The mission of the rebuild Foundation is to preserve black art, music, culture and physical spaces, bringing a moving and inspiring performance.

The show featured CatchPeter presents Praise Break by Peter CottonTale. CottonTale serves as Chance the Rapper’s musical director. CottonTale brought together gospel sounds and the present-day sound of the city, enlisting the assistance of The JuJu Exchange, Ron Poindexter, Jay Arnold and more.

The night closed with a special iteration of Black Monks, featuring Yaw Agyeman, Kiara Lanier, Ben LaMar Gay, Joshua Abrams, ADaD and curated by Gates himself.
