The Golden Globes released its list of nominees in 2020, and Joker holds 4 nominations. The film based on the origins of the Batman comic book villain Arthur Fleck, otherwise known as The Joker, grabbed 4 nominations at the Globes including Best Director, Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Best Motion Picture, and Best Original Score.
The Todd Phillips directed film made a killing at the box office grossing over $1 billion globally. Joker is also the highest-grossing R-Rated film of all time. Joaquin Castro was praised for his role as Arthur Fleck, a role that can trigger comic book fans (ask Jared Leto). Castro’s performance earned him a Best Actor nomination.
Castro will be up against Adam Driver (Marriage Story), Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory) and Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes) for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.
Marriage Story leads the film nominees at the Golden Globes with 6 nominations. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Netflix’s The Irishman follow with 5 nominations each.
