The mouse is getting to the bag. Disney will be the first-ever studio to make more than $10 billion in a year at the worldwide box office.
Variety details through Sunday Disney had made $3.28 billion of moviegoers in North America with an additional $6.7 billion pulled in overseas. The exact total is $9.997 billion, closing the company in on $10 billion at the end of Monday.
What makes the year even more amazing is Disney is not done yet, they have Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker loaded for a December 20 release date. Up to now the success of Avengers: Endgame and The Lion King served as power films for the feet. Add in Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Captain Marvel, and Frozen 2 and the power of Disney is unquestioned.
That number doesn’t even include the acquisition of Fox, which would also bring Dark Phoenix and Ford v Ferrari under the Disney umbrella.
