Seems like many athletes want to give back this holiday season.
Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack made a generous donation ahead of the holidays, paying off 300-holiday layaway accounts at one Walmart location. The Walmart store in Fort Pierce, Florida, Mack’s hometown, shared a Facebook update on Friday.
“We here at Walmart would like to thank the Khalil Mack Foundation for your generosity, and for making so many families happy for the holidays!”
Mack has been a big-play player for the Bears defense since joining the team last year. Here is an example of a big playoff in the field from Mack.
Mathias Libardi, the store manager for the Fort Pierce Walmart, said that Mack’s eponymous foundation covered the balances for over 300 accounts, but would not reveal the dollar amount.
“His foundation came to us and said he wanted to be a secret Santa,” Libardi said.
This isn’t the first time this year Mack has paid it forward in his hometown. Earlier this year, Mack’s charity bought cleats for all of the players at Fort Pierce Westwood, his alma mater.
Mack’s deed will be highly appreciated by those whom he helped out. It’s always great to see those in a position to help other out do so and not make a big spectacle of the situation.
