It’s been a busy year for Pornhub. The company has released its annual year in review, detailing what men and women were searching for and watching in 2019.
“Amateur” was the top search on Pornhub in 2019, followed by “Alien” and “POV.” While we have no answers for why “Alien” became such a popular search this year, Dr. Laurie Betito believes the emergence of “Amateur” speaks to an overall increased interest in seeing “more realistic depictions of sex” on the site.
This is Pornhub’s 7th annual report, every year it keeps getting longer and longer. Since I’m not writing a dissertation on it, I’m going to focus on the overall numbers and the tech-focused stats like operating systems, time on site and mobile use. There are a ton of categories on the report, and as a data analyst by trade it’s tough to not touch on every single one of them, but just like that split second after a strong porn viewing session, I have the overwhelming feeling that I have something else to do.
There were 42 billion visits to Pornhub this year. That’s the answer. It breaks down to 115 million per day. 39 billion searches were entered, often bringing up one of the 6.83 million new video uploads in 2019.
Lana Rhoades was, by far, the most searched pornstar on Pornhub in 2019, jumping three spots from last year with 345 million video views. Mia Khalifa and Riley Reid stayed pat at second and third place for a second straight year.
